چکیده

Simulated annealing with a more complicated set of moves than single-spin flips is applied to the one-dimensional Ising spin glass. The explicit connection between the residual entropy at T = 0 in the simulated annealing and the number of metastable states, found previously for single-spin flips, is shown to be also true for these more complicated moves. This result together with a zero-temperature scaling argument is used to derive the degree of improvement that the inclusion of more complicated moves can produce. The results are in accord with the observations made for a number of problems in combinatorial optimization. J. Physique 48 (1987) 1255-1263 AOJT 1987, Classification Physics Abstracts 05.50 75.10M

A Mushy State Simulated Annealing

It is a long time that the Simulated Annealing (SA) procedure has been introduced as a model-free optimization for solving NP-hard problems. Improvements from the standard SA in the recent decade mostly concentrate on combining its original algorithm with some heuristic methods. These modifications are rarely happened to the initial condition selection methods from which the annealing schedules...

Generalized valence bond molecular dynamics at constant temperature

The Nose! ± Hoover chain thermostat of Martyna, Klein and Tuckerman has been adapted to work with our generalized valence bond ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) method, allowing us to perform AIMD in the canonical ensemble (constant number of particles, temperature, and volume). The canonical ensemble is ideal for simulated annealing, which can be used to ® nd global potential energy minima. ...

Temperature dependence of the magnetostriction and the induced anisotropy in nanocrystalline FeCuNbSiB alloys, and their fluxgate properties

Making use of the stress induced magnetic anisotropy in some iron-rich FeCuh'bSiB nanocrystalline materials we studied the thermal dependence of their magnetostriction which becomes zero below the Curie temperature. The choice of a suitable composition and annealing temperature results in materials with zero magnetostriction at room temperature. Due to the low magnetostriction these materials h...

Convergence of Gibbs Measures Associated with Simulated Annealing

We start with an explanation of Simulated Annealing. In order to do this, we quote the paper “Convergence of Gibbs Measures Associated with Simulated Annealing” [CHK], by professors Dennis Cox of the Rice University Statistics department, Robert Hardt of the Rice University Mathematics department, and Petr Klouček of the University of Houston Texas Learning and Computation Center, which states ...
